De speciale kermismiddag voor gehandicapten vindt dit jaar alweer voor de 52ste keer plaats. Het evenement wordt georganiseerd door Stichting Werkgroep Recreatie Gehandicapten Gewest Tilburg.
Samen met het publiek bij de bierhal op het Stadsforum telde wethouder Maarten van Asten af van 10 naar 1. Op 1 drukte Van Asten op de knop en werd de Tilburgse kermis officieel geopend.
Het KNMI heeft code geel afgegeven voor zaterdag 20 juli tussen 17.00 tot 00.00 uur. De Tilburgse kermis is dan in volle gang, maar de gemeente Tilburg houdt het weer goed in de gaten.
